BOGOTA, NJ – The NJIT men's tennis team posted its second 7-0 win in the last week shutting out visiting Howard, 7-0, Saturday evening at Bogota Racquet Club.

The Highlanders swept the doubles competition by identical scores, 8-6, at first and second doubles and added a 8-0 victory at third doubles.

Senior Stephen Erickson won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0 at first singles over Howard's Omar Haloui.  Carl Lundquist competing at the second spot went the distance falling in the first set 6-7(9) but bounced back for a 6-4, 6-3 victory.

Freshman Fraser Croad was a 6-0, 6-3 winner at third singles followed by Diego Abreu who battled out a three set tilt over Eric Chavous, 6-4, 6-7(6), 7-6(2) at fourth singles.

Captain Cosmin Chiujdea won 6-1, 6-2 at the fifth spot while Dimitri Athans won 6-3, 6-2 at number six.

The Highlanders will return to action this weekend at the Dayton Invitational.  Friday NJIT will face Northern Kentucky at 1:30pm and on Saturday will take on Belmont at 11:30am and host Dayton at 3:30pm.
