NJIT 5 - Franklin & Marshall 3

NEWARK, NJ -- The Highlanders snapped a mini losing streak with a victory over The Diplomats of Franklin & Marshall to kickoff a 6-game home stand.

After 3 consecutive loses, NJIT got off to a quick start as Stan Pilny notched a pair of goals in the first period. Early in the 2nd period Nik Naumovski drilled one home off a long rebound on the weak side and the home team had a 3-0 lead.

After F & M scored Chris Oertel blasted a slap shot from the point that found its way through a crowd and the lead was restored to 3 goals going into the final period.

Again the Highlanders found the net early as Chris Pawlik finished the scoring for the Highlanders.

Although F & M was out-manned from the start they never gave up and actually put a scare into the crowd as they netted 2 goals in closing minutes, but it was a case of too little - too late.

Assists on the night went to Jason Anagnos, James Wintjen (2), Andrew Kaczur, Matt Smarsh,Gerald Evans & Stan Pilny (2 goals, 1 assist)
