NJIT vs. NYU @ Prudential Center

NYU continued its dominance of the Highlanders with another impressive scoring display and a 9-2 victory.

Although the shots were 22-1 at the end of the first period - in favor of the Violets, the Highlanders trailed by only 2-0 and had actually begun to put pressure on the visitors.

Ironically NJIT faired much better in the shot department during the 2nd period at 13-9, but gave up 4 goals - 2 while serving questionable penalties - to fall behind 6-1.

The Highlander goal was scored on the power play by Mike Mellilo - his 3rd goal in the last 3 games - and assisted by Alex Guimaraes.

The 3rd period was more of the same, as the Highlanders seemed to generate more speed and pressure, but the Violets created more shots and received the benefit of the doubt on the penalties.

Nikola Naumovski scored unassisted to close it to 6-2, but NYU scored 2 more - 1 on the power play to finish strong.

Anthony McIntyre was the scoring leader for NYU with a hat trick and and assist. Not too bad considering he spent 14 minutes in the penalty box! Gordie Howe sure would have been proud.
