West Long Branch, NJ – The New Jersey Institute of Technology women's tennis team scored a decisive win, 5-2, over Monmouth University Tuesday evening.
The Highlanders, who are 3-1 in their third season of competition at the NCAA Division I level, won four of the six singles contests and then two out of three doubles to claim the doubles point against Monmouth.
For NJIT, Iulia Doci was 6-0, 6-3 winner at first singles over Monmouth's Sarah Ragan. Sophomore transfer Ana Lidon defeated Kaitlin Gallagher at second singles, 6-3, 6-4.
At third singles, Fanny Aizier topped Katie Tierney 6-2, 6-1 while teammate Dasa Stanimirovic was a winner at fourth singles, 6-4, 6-1.
Monmouth won at fifth and sixth singles.
Doci and Stanimirovic scored an 8-2 win at first doubles as the duo of Lidon and Aizier completed the evening with an 8-1 victory at second doubles.
The Highlanders return to action this weekend when they travel to Norfolk, Virginia and compete at the Hampton Roads Invitational.
