ALBANY, NY -
The Highlanders hockey team embarked on their first overnight road trip to play SUNY Albany and Union College Friday night, employing a tight "box and one" defensive system, they held last year's ACHA D-III National Runner-Up to 3 regular strength goals in a game at the Albany Academy Rink.
The score was still close when Kevin Mulligan blasted a slap shot that ricocheted off the crossbar for the best scoring chance of the night.
Albany tacked on 2 power play goals, but considering the fact that the unbeaten Albany squad is averaging over 9 goals per game and beating teams by almost 8 goals per game the result was not too disappointing.
Steve Kaufman was terrific in goal, especially during the 2nd period, in which he only allowed 1 Power Play goal.
