Team Note: NJIT finishes 2013 at 8-10-1 while notching 6 shutouts, also a new program high in the Division I era, which began in 2006. The previous Division I high for wins was 7 when the Highlanders were 7-9-2 in 2009.This year's team also matched the overall program record for wins. Started as a Division III program in 1996, NJIT played in Division II from 1997 to 2005, posting an 8-6-3 mark the final season in Division II.

2012: Griep, a freshman midfielder from Burlington, Ontario, Canada, earned CollegeSportsMadness second team honors in the Great West Conference. Griep, one of the most versatile players on the NJIT squad, appeared in every match (20) and led the Highlanders with three assists.

Prior to NJIT: One of three Canadians and one of two from Burlington, Ontario (a suburb of Hamilton on the shores of Lake Ontario) in this signing class, Griep is a versatile attacking player with a proven track record of performing at a high level in multiple positions. Her coach on the Burlington Heat of the Burlington Soccer Club, the 2011 Ontario Cup finalists, Casey Downey said: “Maddy is perhaps the most versatile starting player I have coached in 20 years. I recruited her as an outside back, moved her to striker, and shuttled her across the midfield—wherever the team's needs were greatest. Her speed, tenacity and wide array of technical skills enabled her to excel anywhere on the field.”
