Coleman, a resident of Union, NJ, is a graduate of St. Anthony High School in Jersey City, where he was coached by Bob Hurley, a 2010 inductee into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame... Played on Friar teams that won the NJSIAA State Tournament of Champions following his sophomore and junior years and he entered his final high school game (a defeat in the Non-Public ‘B’ final) having been on the winning side in 93 of the prior 94 games... As a senior, Coleman averaged 8 ppg and 5 rpg. One of his memorable efforts came in the New Jersey Non-Public ‘B’ North title game vs. fellow Jersey City power, Hudson Catholic, which entered the tilt with one loss. St. Anthony, ranked 1st in the state at the time, would defeat 2nd-ranked Hudson decisively, 57-42... Against a Hudson Catholic front line led by Top 75 national recruit Reggie Cameron, a 6’8” power forward now at Georgetown, Coleman came up big. On that night, the 6-5 Coleman matched Cameron in points (12) and rebounds (10) and also posted a game-best four blocked shots... Coleman grabbed nine rebounds in a regular season tilt against nationally-ranked St. Benedict’s Prep of Newark...
