Biography

2023: Played in 29 games, making 26 starts at either first base or second base...didn't make an error in 163 chances on defense...recorded two of NJIT's three hits at UMBC (4/4)...knocked in three runs at LIU (4/15).

2022: Saw action in 13 games, making six starts at second base...recorded a hit at Norfolk St. (3/5) and walked four times...didn't make an error in 20 chances.

2021: Played in three games before missing the rest of the season due to injury.

2020: Saw action in and started nine games in season cut short after 16 games due to COVID-19 Pandemic...knocked in a pair of runs vs. Bucknell (2/29).

2019: Started all 45 games at second base. … led the Highlanders with a .325 batting average, ranking sixth in the ASUN, topping all freshmen. … his on-base percentage of .420 ranked in the top nine in the league. … his 53 total hits was second on the Highlander squad and fourth in doubles with seven.

Prior to NJIT: A four-time Gold Glove Award winner, Helmkamp finished with a .963 fielding percentage.  A four-year starter in Orange County’s South Coast League, Helmkamp attended Aliso Niguel High School. He played summer ball for Quakes Baseball Academy with 2019 recruit Grant Vurpillat.
