"ONE TEAM ONE SCHOOL"
The Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) serves as a liaison between the student-athlete body and the athletic department's administration. SAAC meets twice per month and is composed of representatives from each varsity team. The council meets to discuss issues concerning student-athletes, works to improve the overall experience of NJIT student-athletes and seeks to build community within the teams and the greater Newark community.
Community service continues to be a strong emphasis that the council focuses on each year. In the past, SAAC has helped organize student-athletes to participate in the Vermont Special Olympics, Burlington Multiple Sclerosis Walk, Relay for Life, the Get 60 youth fitness initiative and a number of activities through the Newark Boys & Girls Club.
