High School:
Playing at St. Peter’s, Walsh averaged 25 points per game as a senior, making 109 3-point baskets in the process. He topped 30 points in a game nine times and topped 40 twice, including a season-best 43 points, including 10 threes, against Susan Wagner High. ...Walsh finished his high school career with 1,388 points, fourth on the all-time list at St. Peter’s and 17th all-time for the entire borough of Staten Island. He scored 751 of his points as a senior playing for coach Charles Driscoll. ...Walsh was a two-time Staten Island Advance all-star and also a two-time all-Staten Island pick by the New York Daily News. He played in the New York City Mayors Cup All-Star game and was a New York Sportswriters Association Class AA all-state pick. He was also Most Valuable Player of the Staten Island division of the Catholic High Schools Athletic Association (CHSAA), the governing body of Catholic scholastic sports in New York City. ...Salutatorian of his graduating class at St. Peter’s, Reilly followed in the footsteps of his father, John, who was the starting point guard on the 1983 St. Peter’s team that is the only Staten Island team ever to capture the New York City CHSAA AA City championship.
