2014: Had a remarkable 2014 season, probably the best individual year in NJIT's eight seasons of Division I competition in terms of performance in a broad range of statistical categories. ... ranks in top 46 in 8 NCAA Division I offensive categories and he is among NJIT's all-time leaders in numerous career statistics, both all-time and in 8 years of Division I competition; he also made only one error in the field in 43 games in 2014. ... In the national rankings, he is fifth in hit-by-pitch per game (0.47); sixth in toughest to strike out (one strikeout per every 21.6 at-bats); 13th in stolen bases per game (0.56); 19th in total hit-by-pitch (20); 33rd in total stolen bases (24); 40th in slugging percentage (.583); 42nd in runs per game (0.95); and, 46th in home runs per game (0.19). ...playing and starting in 43 of NJIT's 45 games, he led the Highlanders in batting average (.318), runs (41), triples (4 on a team that hit 6 total), home runs (8). He also reached base 30 times via walk (10) or hit-by-pitch (20), for a team-leading .429 on-base percentage. ...his .583 slugging percentage (total bases divided by at-bats, plus sacrifice flies) led NJIT by a wide margin. Defensively, Weckerle made just one error in right field this season and had 6 assists after having played all outfield positions and the two corner infield positions at various times in his first three college seasons....for his career, Weckerle ranks first all-time at NJIT with 191 games played; first in at-bats (717); first in hits (207); first in total bases (404); first in hit-by-pitch (38). In the Division I era, he also leads in runs scored (121); runs batted in (107); triples (11); and, stolen bases (38); is second in home runs (14); and third in doubles (33).
2013: Weckerle wasn't able to find his groove at the plate this year (.213/1 HR/21 RBI), but he is just one year removed from a .313 average with 10 doubles, 3 triples, 3 home runs and 34 RBI (2nd on the 2012 team). ... he finished the season batting .234 with 36 hits, 25 runs batted in, 16 runs and seven doubles.
2012: Finished a fine sophomore year at .313 (3rd on the team), with 10 doubles, three triples (1st), three homers and 34 RBI (2nd).
2011: NJCBA Division All-State Rookie team. ... Weckerle, who batted third in the NJIT order, finished the season batting .284, a new season-high for the rookie. ...the freshman led the team in triples, with four. ...first collegiate home run at Rutgers (3/9).... His freshman numbers were solid--.284 avg, 33 runs (2nd on team), 14 extra-base hits, .357 OBP. They are more impressive considering he started his college career at 0-13 in the opening four games and did not get his average over .200 until the 18th game. Hit safely in 16 of the last 17, including 4-for-5 at North Dakota (5/15) and 3-for-6 vs. Chicago State (5/21). ... Batted .340 in 26 Great West Conference games (2nd on the team to Matt Tomczyk's .345 in GWC play).
