Biography

An explosively athletic big man who is learning “on the job” as he adjusts to college basketball at the Division I level.

2011-12: Athletic post player who will be part of a rotation that could number as many as four regulars at the “five” spot, as coach Jim Engles mixes and matches according to skill setsTied season-high 8 pts, 8 rebs, plus 2 blks vs UVU (3/9) … 7 pts, 5 rebs vs Chicago State (3/3) … 8 rebs, 5 pts vs. CSUB (2/22) … 8 rebs in 15 mins vs. North Dakota (2/11) … 5 rebs, 2 stls in 12 mins vs. Utah Valley (2/9) …  7 rebs, 3 blks, 4 pts vs. Colgate (2/1) … Strong game off the bench at UMass (11/17) with career-high 8 points in 18 minutes … Season-high 5 rebs vs. FDU (12/28) and Army (11/30).

Prior to NJIT: Averaged 15.2 points and 10.6 rebounds as a senior for Brooklyn Tech, which finished 17-9 and advanced to the semifinals of the New York City Public Schools Athletic League Class A grouping. The Engineers, who were seeded 18th in the tournament, won three playoff games before finally falling in the semis. Silcott averaged 15 points and 13 rebounds in his team’s four-game playoff run … He reached double-figure scoring in 22 games as a senior and double-figure rebounding in 13 games. According to maxpreps.com, he led the PSAL Brooklyn A East in both points and rebounds … His scoring high was 30 points against Prospect Heights High School and his rebound high was 19 in the same game. Indeed, those totals were part of a triple-double in that contest with 30 points, 19 rebounds, and 11 blocked shots in a game his team won by six points (66-60) … his high school alma mater, Brooklyn Tech is noteworthy as the largest specialized high school for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in the United States, with an enrollment of more than 4,900 students. Admission, open only to residents of the City of New York, is by competitive examination.
