Biography

2012: Appeared in one game in his final season at NJIT.

2011: Redshirt who practiced but did not play.

2010: Appeared in 12 games, all in relief.


2009: Posted his first collegiate win vs. Rider (4/15; 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R). Five of his six outs in that one came on strikeouts ... also had a scoreless two-inning appearance vs. powerful Monmouth and a scoreless inning against Northeastern.

 

Prior to NJIT: NJIT's first baseball recruit from Hawai’i ... helped Punahou School to its fifth straight state championship ... team was nationally-ranked his junior year ... Okita was 2-0 with a 1.68 ERA and a save for 29-3 team ... Punahou was named as the top high school athletics program in the country by Sports Illustrated in 2008. The school’s alumni include President Barack Obama (1979) and professional golfer Michelle Wie (2007) … played summer ball for the Island Movers.

 

Personal: Reid Isao Okita ... son of Lori and Sam Okita ... biology major ... father (Sam) played baseball at Seattle University and his brother plays in high school ... born 6/7/89 in Honolulu, HI.
