Athletic swingman who will see time as a two guard and wing forward … tied with classmate Jheryl Wilson as the top returning scorer (7.1 ppg) … possesses crowd-pleasing leaping ability … will team on the court with older brother Gary, the junior captain of the Highlanders.

2007-08: Honorable mention on the Division I All-Independent team after tying for 3rd on NJIT in scoring (7.1 ppg) and leading the team in steals … scored a career-high 13 points on three different occasions (11/28 vs. Rider; 2/9 vs. Texas-Pan Am; 2/16 vs. Chicago State) … collected an impressive 10 points in 23 minutes at Washington of the Pac 10 in his second college game.

 

Prior to NJIT: Top 20 all-star at the highly-regarded Eastern Invitational Camp the summer before his senior year …  at Delbarton School in Morristown, NJ, averaged 11.2 ppg and was a second-team Daily Record all-area pick as a  junior. ...The Star-Ledger named Garris on its all-Morris County second team after he helped Delbarton to a 22-6 record and the Morris County Tournament crown. … repeated as a 2nd-team all-Morris pick as a senior and scored 19 points as the leading scorer in the annual Morris-Sussex all-star game … scored a career-high 33 points in the quarterfinal of the 2007 North Jersey Non-Public A Tournament. … performed well in the high-caliber Rutgers summer college league, producing multiple double-figure scoring and rebounding games before his freshman season at NJIT … qualified for NJ Parochial state track and field championships in both sprints and jumps as early as his freshman and sophomore years.
