NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT men's volleyball team remained undefeated at home (11-0) behind a 3-1 home victory over visiting Charleston (WV) Friday evening in EIVA Conference action inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center.
NJIT moves to 15-8 overall, 6-3 in the EIVA and remains undefeated at home with an 11-0 overall record.
The other Division I teams undefeated in 2026 are: UCLA (9-0), Maryville (MO) (10-0), Maryland Eastern Shore (8-0) and NJIT (11-0).
Wiktor Nowak led the Highlanders on Friday night with a match-high 16 kills, followed by Andre Aleixo, who added 13. Parker Moorhead contributed eight kills while hitting an efficient .400.
Freshman middles Alex Heins and Daniel Latkowski each recorded seven kills, posting impressive hitting percentages of .462 and .545, respectively, in the Highlanders' victory. Setter Bruno Figueiredo orchestrated the offense with 45 assists and added seven digs.
Defensively, Latkowski paced NJIT with six total blocks (one solo, five assists), while Moorhead and Heins each chipped in four block assists.
NJIT came out sharp in the opening set, jumping to a 4-1 lead and setting the tone early. The Highlanders extended their advantage to 15-8 with a 4-1 run that forced Charleston to call timeout. NJIT stayed firmly in control from there, closing the set on a 5-2 surge for a 25-13 victory. The Highlanders were highly efficient offensively, hitting .562 with 19 kills and just one error. Parker Moorhead led the way with six kills on seven swings, posting an impressive .857 hitting percentage.
Charleston opened the set strong, building a 5-1 lead. The home team battled back to cut the deficit to one at 8-7, but the Golden Eagles responded with a 3-1 run to push their advantage to 16-12. Another 3-1 spurt by the home side trimmed the margin to 17-15, prompting a Charleston timeout. Out of the break, the Golden Eagles seized control, using a dominant 7-1 run to extend the lead to 24-16 before closing out a 25-17 win to even the match at one set apiece.
NJIT came out firing in the third set, jumping to a 7-4 lead before Charleston answered with a 3-1 run to edge ahead 11-9. NJIT quickly regained momentum, scoring three straight to take a 12-11 lead, but the Golden Eagles countered with a 5-1 surge to go up 16-13, forcing an NJIT timeout. Out of the break, NJIT responded in kind, rattling off four consecutive points to tie the set at 18-18, highlighted by a service ace from Daniel Latkowski. The tightly contested set featured six additional ties before the Highlanders pulled away late, using a 4-1 run to secure a 29-27 victory and take a 2-1 lead in the match.
The Highlanders opened the fourth set with a 400 run, fueled by three service aces from Latkowski, and quickly stretched their advantage to 1344, forcing a Charleston timeout. The Golden Eagles responded with a 4-1 spurt to trim the deficit to 17-10 and later used a 5–1 run to pull within four at 19-15. Out of an NJIT timeout, the Highlanders regained control, scoring four straight points—capped by an ace from Wiktor Nowak—to extend the lead to 23-15. Charleston answered with back-to-back points, but NJIT closed out the set, 25-17, sealing the 3-1 victory with a kill from Andre Aleixo.
