PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The NJIT men's tennis team drops first road match of the season at Drexel, 7-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Highlanders battled throughout doubles play, but the Dragons secured the early 1-0 advantage by claiming wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to take the point. The Highlanders showed competitiveness at the top flight, pushing the Dragons in tightly contested games, but were unable to swing momentum in their favor.
In singles action, the Dragons extended its lead with straight-set victories across the lineup to seal the 7-0 team result. The Highlanders competed hard on several courts, forcing extended rallies and multiple deuce points, but the host Dragons maintained control to complete the sweep.
"Really rough day today, we let a lead in all 3 doubles slip away," said Head Coach
Marco Matteucci, "In singles there was a fight but to many errors at the wrong time, too many ups and downs throughout the match, we need to take care of the details better. Tomorrow is another opportunity to improve on those details!"
