​NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT men's tennis team delivered a commanding performance on Saturday afternoon, earning a decisive 4-0 sweep highlighted by a strong doubles point and three straight-set singles victories.

The team set the tone early by capturing the doubles point with wins on courts one and two.

At No. 2 doubles, the duo of Soma Fukuhara and Maxime Hankins were first off the court, cruising to a 6-1 victory. Shortly after, Nejc Skorjanc and Riccardo Campagnola secured the point with another 6-1 win at the No. 1 position.

In singles play, the momentum continued.

At No. 5 singles, Hankins delivered a dominant 6-0, 6-1 performance to put the team ahead 2-0. 

Fukuhara followed with a strong 6-4, 6-2 win at the top singles position, extending the lead to 3-0. 

The clinching point came from Yerassyl Bakhtiyar, who controlled his match at No. 4 singles with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 victory.

Several remaining matches were left unfinished after the team victory was secured.

Next Up
NJIT will return to action on February 28 when the Highlanders visit Drexel.  The match will begin at 11am in Philadelphia.
