NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT men's basketball team falls to UAlabny, 81-63, on Thursday night and drop to 10-3 in America East play.
The Great Danes offense opened on an 8-2 run to get ahead early in the game.
It wasn't until the 12-minute mark when a dunk from sophomore
Malachi Arrington gave the Highlanders their first lead of the game.
The Highlanders then went on a 6-0 run with back-to-back threes from freshman
David Bolden and sophomore
Jordan Rogers.
The offense continued to roll with a 7-1 run for the final three minutes, however turnovers from the Highlanders in the final minute slowed down the pace of play.
The Highlanders went into half with a 42-32 lead.
Junior Sebastain Robinson controlled the first half offense for the Highlanders leading the way with 15 points.
Coming out of the break, the Great Danes responded with a 9-2 run to get this America East matchup with two possessions.
The first eight minutes of play was in favor of the Great Danes with them using a 6-0 run to tie the game at 54 apiece with 12 minutes left in the second half.
The Highlanders were able to end the scoring drought with a basket but that did not stop the momentum of the Great Danes.
The Great Danes used a 30-7 run that spanned across almost 11 minutes of play to take a 19-point lead with just over four minutes to go.
It was a tale of two halves for the Highlanders. The team shot 17-29 (58.6%) from the field in the first half but in the final half, the Highlanders shot 7-30 (23.3%) from the field.
Leading the way for the Highlanders was Robinson with 18 points and Bolden followed with 14 points.
