NEWARK, NJ -- The NJIT men's tennis team suffered defeat against visiting Saint Joseph's, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon.

The Highlanders secure the doubles points by winning in No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, including besting the Hawks in another tiebreak scenario with Severin Risan and Nejc Skorjanc defeating Jakob Gaudreau Barnes and Sehaj Singh Pawar, 7-5. Wil Jenkins and Soma Fukuhara defeated Damir Abdusamadov and Santiago Valle-Saenz, 6-4, in No. 1 doubles.

In singles the lone Highlander to win was Yerassyl Bakhtiyar taking down Sehaj Singh Pawar, 6-0, 6-1, in fifth singles.

"Today was a rough day, we had not lost at home in two years," said Head Coach Marco Matteucci, "Every match was super tight but at the end of the day we couldn't pull through. We need to go through some video and keep working on filling in the gap to get better."
