Highlanders Secure Huge Road Win Over UAlbany, 77-68, on Thursday Night

ALBANY, NY – The NJIT men's basketball team takes down UAlbany on the road, 77-68, and improve to 5-2 in America East play.

The Highlanders playing in their first game in a week had one of their strongest starts to a game offensively on Thursday night. In the first ten minutes of play, the Highlanders shot an impressive 9-18 from the field with sophomore Ari Fulton scoring nine of the team's first 20 points on 4-5 shooting from the field.

The Highlanders led for majority of the opening half however in the final minutes of the half, the Great Danes used a 6-0 run to get the Highlander lead down to two with two minutes to go.

After twenty minutes of play, the Highlanders led 39-33 while shooting 17-33 from the field (51.5%), their best shooting first half through conference play.

Coming out of the break, the Highlanders scored just 14 points halfway through the final twenty and their offensive consistency from the first half was quickly stopped from the Great Danes defense.

The Great Danes capitalized on a six-minute scoring drought from the Highlanders to go on a 11-0 run to take the lead by one with just under nine minutes left.

The Highlanders' scoreless streak broke thanks to a three from freshman David Bolden with just under seven minutes to go in the final half to regain the lead 56-54.

Momentum shifted in the half after that three with the Highlanders going on a run of their own.

The Highlanders used a 9-0 run capitalized with a wide open three from sophomore Quentin Duncan to give the Highlanders a ten-point lead with four minutes to go.

Despite the lead, the Great Danes responded quickly with a 7-0 run to make this America East clash a three-point game with two and a half minutes remaining.

Ultimately, the run ran short and the Highlanders were able to secure the victory, 77-68, for their fifth conference win of the season.

This is the first win for the Highlanders on the road in ten contests against the Great Danes.

Five Highlanders scored in double-digits with junior Sebastian Robinson leading the way with 17 points on 7-15 shooting.

Duncan followed with a season-high 16 points on 4-6 shooting from behind the arc. Bolden scored 15 points, graduate student Melvyn Ebonkoli finished with 13 points and Fulton closed out the game with 11 points.
