LORETTO, PA–The NJIT men's volleyball team turned in an efficient offensive performance on Saturday afternoon, earning a 3–0 road victory over Daemen by set scores of 25–21, 25–21, and 25–19 on the campus of Saint Francis U inside DeGol Arena.
NJIT (3-5) posted an impressive .453 hitting percentage for the match and controlled play throughout, highlighted by a dominant opening set in which the Highlanders hit .647. NJIT recorded 11 kills on 17 swings in the first frame without committing an error, setting the tone early.
Newcomer Andre Aleixo led all players with 11 kills while hitting an outstanding .714 on the day. Parker Moorhead added eight kills and hit .538 to help pace the Highlander attack. Setter Bruno Figueiredo guided the offense with 22 assists while also contributing seven digs defensively.
The Highlanders continued their strong play in the second set, combining for a .529 hitting percentage with 12 kills to build a 2–0 match advantage. NJIT maintained control in the third set, closing out the sweep with a 25–19 win.
NJIT's scheduled match on Sunday against Saint Francis U has been postponed due to the winter storm expected to impact the area on Sunday and Monday.
The Highlanders will return home for a pair of matches later this month, hosting LIU on January 30 at 5 pm, followed by FDU on January 31 at 6pm at the Joel and Diane Wellness and Events Center.
