NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT men's basketball team takes down Bryant, 79-55, on Monday afternoon to improve to 4-1 in America East play.
Both teams struggled from the field offensively with the Bulldogs starting 1-10 from the field. The Highlanders found their offensive rhythm thanks to junior Sebastain Robinson, making his second straight start of the season, took over and used his driving ability to create points in the paint.
After twenty minutes of play, both teams shot under 30% from the field and both only made a pair of threes each however Robinson led all scorers with nine.
Coming out of the half, the Highlanders stormed out of the break on a 17-4 run to get their biggest lead of the game at 16.
Freshman
David Bolden took over in the second half knocking down three triples on the Highlanders' run leading the way for the offense getting his point total up to 17.
It was all Highlanders the rest of the way with big contributions from the deep ball. As a team, the Highlanders made nine threes after only making two in the first half and shot an impressive 17-28 (60.7%) from the field in the final twenty.
Leading the way for the Highlanders was Robinson with 22 points, marking his third straight game scoring 20+ and his fourth in his last five. Bolden followed with 17 points on 5-9 shooting from behind the arc.
With the win, the Highlanders improve to 4-1 in America East play and it marks their best start in conference play in their first five games in program history.
