Postgame Interview with head coach Ally Nick and senior Briana Andreoli
NEWARK, N.J. - Briana Andreoli scored twice to lead NJIT (3-2-1) to a 2-0 victory over Wagner (1-1-3) on Thursday evening at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.
Andreoli recorded a brace for the second time of her career, her first since Oct. 22, 2023 at Vermont. She also scored against Wagner for the second consecutive season, The senior now has 15 career goals, which is tied with Fiona Wright for the most goals in the Division I era at NJIT.
NJIT created several scoring opportunities in the first half. In the 18th minute,
Mikayla Balio had a strong chance denied by Wagner goalkeeper Shae McGinty.
Riley Jones added two shots on goal late in the half, but McGinty turned them away to keep the game scoreless at halftime.
McGinty left the game with an injury in the 61st minute. She had a game-high six saves, all in the first half. Just 36 seconds later, Andreoli broke the deadlock with her second goal of the season to give NJIT a 1-0 lead.
In the 89th minute, Andreoli added her second goal of the night, finishing off a corner kick assisted by
Emily Jozak.
Enya Carthy and
Mojisola Ayodele made two saves each for NJIT. Jozak, Jones, and
Kelsey Ramos each recorded four shots.

Kennedy Westbrook,
Sofia Mignon,
Maria Nogueira,
Kennedy Yon, and Jones played the full 90 minutes.
NJIT led in shots (19-15), shots on goal (9-4), corner kicks (12-4), and possession (51%-49%).

NJIT will continue its homestand by hosting Seton Hall on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 1:00 p.m. at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.
