ALBANY, N.Y. - JC Echezuria recorded a career-high four goals, but the NJIT men's lacrosse team (1-11, 0-6 AE) lost to UAlbany (7-8, 4-2 AE), 18-6, on Saturday night at Bob Ford Field at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium.
UAlbany opened the game on a 4-0 run before Echezuria scored his first goal of the game at the 4:28 mark in the first quarter. After the Great Danes added two more goals, Echezuria scored two goals in one minute to cut the deficit to 6-3.
NJIT was held scoreless until the 9:22 mark in the third quarter, when
Jadon McKenzie netted his third goal of the season, his second straight game with a goal.
Alystair Hemberger added a goal in the fourth quarter.
Emmerick Dopona recorded a career-high seven ground balls, while Hemberger finished with two points (1 goal, 1 assist).
Silas Richmond paced UAlbany with eight points (1 goal, 7 assists).
UAlbany outshot NJIT 48-27, held a 39-27 advantage in ground balls, and won 16-of-27 (59.2%) faceoffs.
