Box Score Thibodaux, La. – The NJIT men's tennis team advanced to the Championship Match of the 2025 Southland Conference Tournament with a 4-1 victory over No. 6 seed Incarnate Word on Friday afternoon. The win sends the Highlanders back to the Championship Match as they look to win a second straight Southland Conference title.

NJIT had to battle from behind to open the match as Incarnate Word took the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles victories to get ahead in the match. Pablo Perez Ramos was able to quickly turn the tide once singles action got underway, claiming a straight sets win on the No. 1 court, 6-2, 6-3. Soma Fukuhara and Wil Jenkins were each able to follow with straight set victories of their own as well, putting the Highlanders in the driver's seat.

With the Cardinals holding leads on the No. 2 and No. 3 court, German Lopez Andujar was able to rally in No. 6 singles to pick up the clinching victory. Lopez Andujar trailed midway through the first set, but was able to fight back and earn a tiebreaking win in set one. That momentum carried through the second set, with the senior finishing off the hard-fought victory to send his team to the Championship Match for the second straight season.
