NEWARK, NJ–Visiting No. 16 Ohio State won 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-19) over NJIT in non-conference men's volleyball action Friday evening inside the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center.
Ohio State won its second straight match and are now winners of its last three out of four matches, improving to 8-8 on the season while NJIT drops its fourth straight, moving to 7-7 on the season. In the last five out of six matches for the NJIT, the Highlanders have faced five teams in the top 20 and one team receiving votes.
NJIT was led by Antonio Feliciano and Wiktor Nowak who each registered seven kills while Alessandro Negri added five kills. The third kill for Negri tonight marked the senior from Reggio Emilia, Italy, 1,000th career kill of his career.
Libero Diego Lopez recorded six digs while Negri and Braeden Goebbert added four block assists.
The Buckeyes Shane Wetzel led the way with nine kills followed by Kyle Teune (8) and Stanislaw Chacinski (6). Daniel Henwood Rodriguez combined for 25 assists, six total blocks (one solo, five assists), four digs and three service aces.
The two teams will be back in action Saturday night at 6pm inside the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center.
