Little Falls, N.J. - The NJIT baseball team dropped the middle game of the series, 7-3, to Maine on Saturday night at Yogi Berra Stadium.

How it Happened
NJIT scored a run in the first inning again, with
Ty Sallie coming home on a wild pitch after hitting a single. In the third inning,
Mattie Thomas scored on a wild pitch to give the Highlanders a 2-0 lead.

Maine rallied in the fifth inning, scoring five runs to take the lead. The Black Bears added insurance runs in the eighth with a pinch-hit two-run home run.

The Highlanders answered in their half of the eighth, starting with walks by
Cole Campbell and Sallie. Campbell came home on a
Ray Ortiz RBI single to left field. However, Maine got out of the jam with two strikeouts and a ground out by NJIT.

MT Morrissey got the start on the mound for the Highlanders, pitching 4.2 innings with a career-high nine strikeouts.
Andrew Eppinger and Thomas each recorded two hits.
