Fairfield, Conn. – The NJIT baseball team dropped its midweek showdown at Fairfield, 9-3, on Tuesday afternoon.

How it Happened
NJIT got off to a strong start once again, plating a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. Cole Campbell led off the game with a walk and would later come around to score on an RBI single from Mason Wolf. Next, Austin Francis came to the plate with one out and grounded out to first base, allowing the second run of the inning for the Highlanders to cross the plate.

Fairfield would answer in the bottom half of the first with two runs of its own, and would grab the lead with another run in the second. In the third, Jaden Caballero grounded into a double play, however Wolf was able to score the tying run from third after being hit by a pitch to open the inning.

The Stags would go back ahead with a pair of runs in the fifth. Tade Riordan pitched two innings out of the bullpen to keep the score where it was until the eighth, when four Fairfield runs helped the home side pull away for the win.
