LONG BEACH, CA–Visiting NJIT fell to top-ranked Long Beach State, 3-1, Friday evening in men's volleyball non-conference action inside the Walter Pyramid.

Long Beach State, the No. 1 team in the nation won its 19th straight match of the season, moving to 19-0 on the season while the Highlanders moved to 7-11 overall.

The Beach went ahead 2-0 with a 25-9 win in the first set and 25-14 victory in the second frame.  NJIT grabbed a set from Long Beach State, 25-23, in the third frame but the Beach responded with a 25-19 victory in the fourth set to earn the 3-1 win over the Highlanders.

Leading the way for the Highlanders was freshman Wiktor Nowak's team-best 13 kills followed by senior Alessandro Negri with 11.  Nowak combined for a .233 hitting percentage.

Freshman Bruno Figueiredo combined for 25 assists while Nowak and Antonio Feliciano each notched six digs.

The Beach were led by Skylar Varga and Daniil Hershtynovich with 10 kills.  Moni Nikolov recorded 35 assists, seven kills, seven block assists, five service aces while hitting .600 in Long Beach State victory.

The two teams will meet on Saturday night with the first spike set for 10pm (ET) on ESPN+.
