EASTON, Pa. - The NJIT men's lacrosse team (1-5) lost to Lafayette (4-3, 0-2 Patriot), 14-4, in its final non-conference game Tuesday night at Fisher Stadium.
After Lafayette scored the first two goals,
Isaac Vanzomeren tallied his second goal of the season at the 9:13 mark of the first quarter, assisted by
Gabe Thompson. The Highlanders scored two straight goals to end the first period, coming from
JC Echezuria and
Will Labartino. Lafayette led 4-3 at the end of the first quarter.
The Leopards held NJIT scoreless in the second quarter, taking a 7-3 lead at halftime.
Echezuria scored his second goal of the game in the third quarter, assisted by
Russell Maher. However, Lafayette outscored NJIT, 7-1, in the second half.
Despite holding a 6-4 advantage in caused turnovers, Lafayette outshot NJIT 38-33, held a 31-24 advantage in ground balls, and won 11-of-20 (55%) faceoffs.
Riley Sullivan led Lafayette with 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists), while goalkeeper Joe Doherty made nine saves.
