Box Score NEWARK, N.J. – The NJIT men's tennis team earned its sixth straight sweep to open the season in a 7-0 win over Binghamton on Friday afternoon.
The Highlanders claimed all three doubles matches, led by a win in No. 1 doubles by
Pablo Perez Ramos and
Wil Jenkins, 6-3. Necj Skorjanc and
Oscar Callo von Platen earned a 6-4 win in No. 2 doubles, while
Severin Risan and
Soma Fukuhara took home a 6-1 win on the No. 3 court.
NJIT cruised in singles, with all six players earning straight set victories. Perez Ramos coasted to a win at the top of the lineup, 6-3, 6-4, while Skorjanc battled to a 7-5, 6-3 win in the No. 2 slot. Callo von Platen earned a win in the No. 3 position, 6-4, 6-1, while Fukuhara coasted to a 6-2, 6-0 win in No. 4 singles.
Maxime Hankins and
Tom Sorin rounded out NJIT's lineup with convincing wins in No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
"Really good day today," head coach
Marco Matteucci said. "Our doubles seem to be improving. Binghamton is always a tough opponenent, but today we did a really good job."
