BURLINGTON, VT–Vermont cruised to a 75-43 victory over visiting NJIT inside Patrick Gymnasium Thursday evening in America East Conference Women's Basketball action.
Vermont, winners of three in a row, improved to 17-12 overall, 12-3 in the America East while NJIT moved to 11-17 overall, 8-7 in the America East.
The Catamounts shot 55 percent from the field led by Bella Vito's game-best 14 points followed by Anna Olson (13), Sarah Ericson, who posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds and Keria Hanson (10).
Leading the Highlanders was nine-time America East Rookie of the Week honoree Olivia Kulyk with nine points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field. Trinity Williams added eight points while Avery O'Roke came off the bench to score seven points. Alejandra Zuniga chipped in six points. Freshman Allison Cannon scored four points, grabbed three rebounds and dished out three assists.
Vermont poured in 24 first quarter points and outscored the visiting Highlanders 18-6 in the second quarter to take a 42-19 advantage at the half and never looked back to secure the home victory.
NJIT will conclude the regular season on Saturday night when the Highlanders visit top-ranked UAlbany. Tip off slated for 7pm on ESPN+.
