Box Score NEWARK, N.J. – The NJIT men's tennis team improved to 8-0 this spring with a 5-2 victory over Drexel on Saturday afternoon inside the Naimoli Family Recreation & Athletic Center.
The Highlanders showed great resilience in the doubles portion of the match. Necj Skorjanc and
Oscar Callo von Platen fought hard for a 7-5 victory on the No. 2 court. In No. 3 doubles,
Soma Fukuhara and
Severin Risan needed a tiebreaker to win their match, 7-6 (7-5).
Pablo Perez Ramos and
Wil Jenkins put forth a great effort in the No. 1 position, picking up a convincing 6-1 victory.
In singles, all four Highlander wins came in straight sets. Perez Ramos set the tone with his win in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-3, while Skorjanc followed suit with a victory in the No. 2 slot, 6-2, 6-3. On the No. 4 court, Callo von Platen picked up a solid win, 7-5, 6-4, while Fukuhara earned a victory in the No. 5 position, 6-3, 6-2.
