Women’s Soccer Falls 1-0 to Bryant

NEWARK, N.J. - The NJIT women's soccer team (5-5-6, 0-3-3 AE) fell to Bryant (5-4-6, 2-2-3 AE), 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.
 
How it Happened
Bryant opened the scoring in the first half, as Emily Supple netted her first goal of the season off a free kick from Madison Luke. The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
 
In the 56th minute, Bryant's Cassidy Moriarty fired a shot on target, but NJIT goalkeeper Mojisola Ayodele made a leaping save to keep the deficit at one. A few minutes later, Kirra Hyder nearly equalized for NJIT, but the play was ruled offside. The Highlanders were unable to capitalize on several chances in the second half.
 
Maria Nogueira and Riley Jones played the full 90 minutes. Freshman goalkeeper Enya Carthy made five saves in the first half. Briana Andreoli led NJIT with three shots.
 
Bryant led NJIT in shots (18-10), shots on goal (10-3), and possession (58%-42%), while the Highlanders had a slight edge in corner kicks (8-7).
 
Next Up
The Highlanders will wrap up their home slate on Saturday, Oct. 25, hosting Maine at 6 p.m. at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.
