NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT women's volleyball team falls to Bryant in straight sets on Friday night in America East action.

NJIT started off the match with an overpowering offensive attack, jumping out to a 13-4 lead however a quick Bryant timeout started a run of their own to storm back and knot the score up at 15 apiece. From then on it was a back-and-forth battle but ultimately the Bulldogs were able to take the opening set by two points.
The momentum Bryant had from the first set carried over into the second set of the match as the Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead. Despite their early lead, the Highlanders were able to fight their way back and get the set back within striking distance. Halfway through the set, the Highlanders were able to take a one-point lead, but Bryant responded quickly by going on a run of their own and winning the second set.
The third and final set of the match was controlled by the Bulldogs from start to finish. The Highlanders were unable to find an answer to a strong Bryant attack and the Bulldogs secured the conference win.
Leading the way for the Highlanders was senior
Mariana Cova was a team-high 13 points and 12 kills and sophomore
Ema Torres followed with 8.5 points and 12 kills. Holding the backline for NJIT was Sophomore
Finley McAndrew with seven digs.
