NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT men's volleyball team will open its 2025 season this weekend, welcoming No. 9 Grand Canyon to the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center.
2025 Schedule
The 2025 slate will feature six teams ranked in the final 2024 AVCA/NVA National Collegiate Men's Volleyball Poll.
In addition to the six teams ranked in the final 2024 AVCA/NVA National Collegiate Men's Volleyball Poll, four teams on the Highlanders schedule – Long Beach State, Grand Canyon, Penn State and Ohio State appeared in the 2024 NCAA Men's Volleyball Tournament.
The Highlanders will host 16 home matches inside the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center and play 10 on the road.

Preseason EIVA Conference Coaches Poll
NJIT was picked to finish second in the 2025 EIVA Preseason Coaches Poll selected by the seven head coaches the league office announced. Just ahead of the Highlanders was the unanimous choice Penn State.
2024 Season Rewind
Head Coach Danny Goncalves begins his 10th season at the helm of the Highlanders.
NJIT wrapped up its 2024 season 11-15 overall after advancing to its fourth consecutive EIVA Conference Tournament and third season with 11 or more victories.
Opening Weekend at Home
On January 10-11, NJIT will welcome defending Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Tournament Champions Grand Canyon to Newark, NJ. The Lopes, who advanced to the second round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament, finished last season with a final ranking in the AVCA/NVA at No. 3, a 26-5 overall record and 10-2 in the MPSF.
