NJIT Swimming & Diving Hosts Senior Day Meet Against Lafayette

NEWARK, N.J. - The NJIT swimming and diving team (2-4) will host its Senior Day meet against Lafayette (1-2) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center (BWEC). The meet will be streamed live on America East TV.
 
Aidan Blackmon, Tanish Chhabra, Sam Deemer, and Mizell McEachin will be honored for Senior Day, with the ceremony starting at 12:50 p.m.
 
NJIT NEWS & NOTES
NJIT enters the contest with a 2-4 record in dual meets this season, most recently earning a 178-113 victory over Rider on Jan. 18.
 
Ilias El Fallaki was named both the America East Swimmer and Rookie of the Week for the second time this season on Jan. 21 after breaking the 500 freestyle school record with a personal-best time of 4:26.59 against Rider. El Fallaki is the only swimmer ranked in the top 6 in the America East in four freestyle events, including the 200 free (1:39.06), 500 free, 1,000 free (9:32.82), and 1,650 free (15:44.05).
 
Adam Mekrami broke the school record in the 1,000 free with a time of 9:29.13 against Rider, which is the top time in the America East. He also ranks in the top 5 in the America East in the 500 free (4:31.95) and the 1,650 free (15:53.56).
 
Borys Endle set two school records at the BU Terrier Invitational, including an America East-best 200 breast time of 1:58.46 and a 400 IM time of 3:59.25.
 
Sam Deemer leads the America East in the 200 back with a time of 1:47.36 at the BU Terrier Invitational.
 
Aidan Blackmon recorded a 50 back time of 22.73 at the BU Terrier Invitational, ranking third in the America East.
 
Pawel Drzymala ranks fourth in the America East with a personal-best 200 fly time of 1:49.85, which won the event against Rider.
 
Aiden Ban swept the diving events for the third time this season against Rider, recording a 1-meter dive score of 304.90 and a 3-meter dive score of 323.10.
 
SCOUTING LAFAYETTE
Lafayette enters the contest with a 1-3 record in dual meets this season, recently falling to Rider, 123-116, on Jan. 23. Kurtis Campbell captured victories in both the 1,000 free and 400 IM against Rider.
 
NJIT leads the all-time series 2-0 in dual meets, earning a 166-125 victory against Lafayette last season.
 
NEXT UP
The Highlanders will compete in their final regular season meet against Monmouth on Jan. 31 at 4:00 p.m. at the BWEC.
