Four Different Highlanders Score in NJIT’s 4-0 Home Shutout Over Saint Peter’s

Augo registers a goal and assist in victory

NEWARK, NJ–Four different Highlanders scored in NJIT's 4-0 home shutout over visiting Saint Peter's Saturday evening in non-conference men's soccer action at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.

NJIT moved back into the win column, improving to 2-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 at home while Saint Peter's, still in search of its first win in 2024 moves to 0-4-1 on the season.

The four NJIT goal scorers on the night were: senior Asembo Augo (17'), senior Matt Moran (27'), graduate student Raz Amir (50') and freshman Andrew Araya (79').  

Four different Highlanders tallied assists in the victory: Justin Aguirre-Rosas, Augo, Alvaro Heredia and Andres Lazo.

Junior keeper Devin Armstrong registered the clean sheet, stopping four shots from Saint Peter's.

How It Happened


Notes

  • Four different Highlanders scored goals and were credited with assists in NJIT's win.

  • Augo and Moran scored their first goals of the 2024 season.

  • The last time Augo scored and assisted on a goal dates back to the 2021 season in the America East Conference Semifinals.

  • Raz Amir netted his second goal in a Highlander uniform after transferring from Fairfield.

  • Heredia and Lazo each tallied their first assist of the season.  The assist for Lazo was his first collegiate assist.

  • Devin Armstrong returned back in goal for the Highlanders after missing one match due to injury.

  • Last time NJIT scored four goals in a season dates back to last season when the Highlanders opened up the season 4-0 against Villanova.

Next Up
NJIT will play back-to-back matches on the road, first visiting Sacred Heart (Sept. 10) followed by Rider (Sept. 14).
