NEWARK, NJ--Assistant AD for Media Relations and Digital Strategy Stephanie Pillari has announced the hiring of Matt Ambrose as the next Assistant Media Relations and Digital Strategy Officer.
Ambrose joins the NJIT Media Relations and Digital Strategy staff after serving as the Assistant Director, Digital Media & Communications at Seton Hall University.
A 2019 graduate of Seton Hall University, Ambrose earned his bachelor's degree in Journalism. He was an On-Air Correspondent for the Pirates Sports Network and worked with the Seton Hall Athletics Communications as an intern during his undergraduate degree.
Ambrose managed social media accounts, provided graphical and video content on multiple platforms, was the secondary contact for the Seton Hall men's basketball team, who claimed the 2024 NIT title under head coach Shaheen Holloway. He was the primary contact for men's soccer, cross country, men's swimming and diving and softball in addition to shooting and editing highlight videos at sporting events.
Prior to joining the Pirates, Ambrose was the Communications Assistant for the BIG EAST Conference for one season, serving as the primary contact for volleyball, swimming and diving, tennis and softball; and secondary contact for women's basketball. He broadcasted live games as the play-by-play commentator for the BIG EAST Digital Network and assisted at Championship events throughout the year.
Ambrose completed his Master of Science in Sport Management at Frostburg State in 2021 while serving as the Athletic Communications Broadcast Assistant for two seasons. He oversaw and provided play-by-play for both video and radio broadcasts, operated Frostburg State's athletics website and social media channels.
Additionally, Ambrose worked at MSG Networks as the Production Student Associate, assisting the team in the truck during production and worked for 89.5 FM WSOU, as the Sports Staff Member and Sports Director, broadcasting home and away games on stations that reach the New York and New Jersey area.
