LITTLE FALLS, NJ - The NJIT baseball team was defeated 12-7 by visiting Binghamton in America East Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Yogi Berra Stadium.
NJIT wraps up the regular season with a 24-26 overall record and a 12-11 mark in America East action. The Highlanders finished their first season at Yogi Berra Stadium with a 13-5 record.
The Highlanders scored the first five runs of the game on Saturday, plating three in the first inning, one more in the second, and a fifth run in the fourth.Â
Binghamton finally got on the scoreboard with two runs in the fifth and took the lead with six more in the sixth. The Bearcats added three runs in the eighth to go in front 11-5.
NJIT was able to get a run back in the bottom of the eighth, but the Bearcats scored one in the top of the ninth to go back in front by six.Â
AJ Soldra's first-career home run made the final score 12-7.
Cade Ladehoff continued his impressive rookie season with three hits and an RBI, which ties him for the America East lead at 54. Veterans

Kevin Putsky and
Luke Longo each had a pair of hits for the Highlanders. Putsky and Longo each knocked in two runs.Â
Brandon Peterson started on the mound for NJIT and tossed a pair of scoreless innings. Senior
Joey Craska needed just five pitches to get three outs in a scoreless ninth inning.Â
Prior to Saturday's game, the Highlanders honored their nine seniors and five graduate students.
NJIT will return to the diamond on Wednesday at the America East Tournament in Vestal, NY. The third-seeded Highlanders are slated to take on sixth-seeded Binghamton at 5pm.
