NEWARK, NJ - The NJIT men's tennis team completed a perfect home schedule on Saturday, defeating visiting Hofstra 6-1 at the Naimoli Tennis Center.
NJIT concluded its regular season with a 16-5 record and was unbeaten in 10 home matches. Hofstra fell to 6-15 on the season.
The Highlanders got on the scoreboard first with a pair of doubles wins as
Nejc Skorjanc and
Wil Jenkins coasted to a 6-1 victory at first doubles and
Pavel Petrov and
German Lopez Andujar clinched the point with a 6-3 win.
NJIT took the momentum into singles play winning five of six, including dominating, straight-set wins from Petrov and
Oscar Callo von Platen in third and fourth singles, respectively.Â
The Highlanders return to action later in the week at the Southland Conference Tournament, hosted by Incarnate Word in San Antonio. The bracket will be released by the conference early in the week
