NEWARK, NJ–Graduate student Carson Williams has been selected EIVA Defensive Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday.

In a 1-1 week for the Highlanders, Williams picked up his first weekly honor of the season, averaging 2.63kps, .486 hitting percentage and (1.88bps).

In a 3-2 loss to Charleston (WV) on Friday, Williams combined for 13 kills on 24 swings with just three errors for a .417 hitting percentage to go along with five total blocks (two solo, three assists).

NJIT split the regular season series with Charleston, sweeping the Golden Eagles on Saturday, Senior Day for the Highlanders.  Williams posted eight kills on 11 attempts with just one error for a .636 hitting percentage to go along with 10 block assists.  The 10 block assists is a career-best for the middle blocker from Allen, TX.

Williams and the Highlanders will return to action on Friday, when NJIT visits Princeton at 7pm.  The match will be streamed live on ESPN+.

In the first meeting in Newark, Princeton defeated NJIT, 3-1.
