PHOENIX, AZ–The NJIT men's volleyball team battled with No. 4 Grand Canyon for the second straight night, dropping a 3-1 decision in non-conference action inside Global Credit Union Arena.
Grand Canyon won its third straight match, improving to 18-2 overall, including 8-0 at home inside the Global Credit Union Arena while Highlanders closed out its three-match road swing dropping its third straight, falling to 8-11 overall.
NJIT recorded the win in the first frame, taking a 25-19 win but it was the Lopes from Grand Canyon who registered the next three frames to secure the 3-1 victory with a 25-22, 25-23 and 25-17.
The Highlanders had three players reach double-digits, paced by Josh Gregg with 13 kills followed by Antonio Feliciano (12) and Carson Williams (10).
Graduate student Williams hit an impressive .643 on 14 attempts with just on errors while teammate Andrew Fedmasu recorded a .625 hitting percentage behind six kills on error on eight attempts for the Highlanders.
Griffin Fieseler the Highlanders setter combined for a match-best 45 assists, five digs and two service aces.
Williams led NJIT in front of the net with three total blocks (one solo, two assists).
NJIT will close out the home portion of its schedule at the end of the month of March, playing three straight inside the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center.
The Highlanders will first welcome Princeton on March 23 and wrap up the home slate on March 29-30 hosting Charleston (WV) with a 6pm/2pm, including Senior Day presentations on Saturday prior to first serve to honor NJIT's Griffin Fieseler and Will Migdal.
