Men’s Volleyball Battles in 3-1 Home Loss to No. 15 Princeton

NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT men's volleyball team battled in a tough 3-1 home loss to visiting No. 15 Princeton Saturday evening in EIVA men's volleyball action inside the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center.

NJIT, still in search of its first EIVA Conference win moves to 0-5 on the season and 8-12 overall while Princeton moves to an even 3-3 in the league and 10-9 overall.

Princeton won the first two frames, 25-22 and 25-20 but the Highlanders responded in the third set earning a 26-24 win but the Tigers secured the match, cruising to a 25-15 win in the fourth frame for a 3-1 road victory.

Reigning EIVA Player of the Week Ben Harrington led the match with 16 kills, six service aces, five block assists and three digs in the win for the Tigers.

NJIT was paced by junior Antonio Feliciano, posting 11 kills, four block assists and three digs.  Alessandro Negri added eight kills while Andrew Fedmasu combined for a .667 hitting percentage, registering seven kills on nine swings with just one error.

Defensively, libero Ron Tidhar led the Highlanders with seven digs and in front of the net graduate student Carson Williams notched six block assists.  Senior setter Griffin Fieseler recorded 27 assists, six digs and four block assists.

NJIT will play its final two home matches of the 2024 slate next weekend, hosting Charleston (WV) on Friday, March 29 (6pm) and Saturday, March 30 (2pm).  Saturday NJIT will honor its two graduate students Julian Meissener and Carson Williams and a pair of seniors Griffin Fieseler and Will Migdal in pregame ceremonies. 

The Highlanders will finish the 2024 schedule on the road with a rematch against Princeton (April 5) and two matches at Harvard (April 12-13) on the final weekend of the regular season.

All six teams qualify for the 2024 EIVA Conference Tournament which will be held at the regular season champions.
