PHOENIX, AZ–Grand Canyon, ranked No. 4 in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll, picked up a 3-1 road win over visiting NJIT Friday evening inside Global Credit Union Arena in men's volleyball non-conference action.
Grand Canyon won its second straight match, improving to 17-2 overall, including 7-0 at home inside the Global Credit Union Arena while Highlanders in a stretch of a three-match road swing dropped its second straight, falling to 8-10 overall.
NJIT came out of the gates on fire, hitting an impressive .556 in the first set to take a 25-17 advantage but Grand Canyon bounced back and won the next three, 25-17, 25-18 and 25-16 to secure the home victory.
Junior Alessandro Negri led the way for the Highlanders combining for 13 kills followed by Antonio Feliciano (11), Josh Gregg (8) and Carson Williams (8).
Senior setter Griffin Fieseler combined for a match-best 40 assists and five digs while Andrew Fedmasu paced the Highlanders in front of the net with five total blocks (one solo, four assist).
Freshman libero Ron Tidhar recorded a team-best seven digs.
Grand Canyon was led by Jackson Hickman's 13 kills for a .458 hitting percentage to go along with five digs.
Both teams will return to action on Saturday at 7pm (ET). The match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
