Women's Tennis Sees Win Streak Snapped At Incarnate Word

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The NJIT women's tennis team saw its ten-match winning streak come to an end in a narrow 4-3 loss to the Incarnate Word Cardinals Tuesday afternoon at the Mabry Tennis Center.

Doubles action was settled in reverse order -  NJIT easily won the third flight, UIW took a close second flight, and the first flight went to a tiebreaker that ended up being won by the hosts.

The Highlanders rebounded from the early 1-0 deficit by taking the first three singles flights in straight sets (No. 5, 6, and 1) to move to the cusp of its 11th straight win. 

Unfortunately, UIW was able to mount a response of its own by winning the second flight in straight sets, flight three in three sets, and the deciding fourth flight in three sets after falling behind in the first set.

NJIT will look to return to the winning column on Thursday, March 14 against Lamar University in Beaumont, TX.
