NJIT Baseball Hosts Seton Hall in First Game at New Home, Yogi Berra Stadium

Highlanders Fall 14-3 to the Pirates

LITTLE FALLS, NJ - The NJIT baseball team hosted Seton Hall on Tuesday afternoon, falling 14-3 in the Highlanders first-ever game at its new home, Yogi Berra Stadium.

Dr. Teik C. Lim, the ninth President in NJIT history, threw out the First Pitch to captain Luke Longo prior to the game.

Seton Hall took control of the game with three runs in each of the second and third innings to take an early 6-0 lead.

NJIT got on the board for the first time in the bottom of the fourth when Dillon Can singled home reigning America East Player of the Week Austin Francis for the Highlanders first run in their new ballpark.

The Pirates answered with three more runs in the fifth and never looked back en route to the double-digit victory.

Francis and Albert Choi each tallied a pair of hits to lead the NJIT offense.

Colin Kidd was the Highlanders' top pitcher, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

The Highlanders open up America East play this weekend when they travel to Binghamton for a three-game series. Friday's series opener is slated to begin at 3pm at the Bearcats Baseball Complex.

NJIT will return to Yogi Berra Stadium on March 29 when it begins another America East series against UMass Lowell.
