Women's Tennis Wins Seventh Straight With Shutout of Binghamton

NEWARK, N.J. — The NJIT women's tennis team swept the Binghamton Bearcats, 7-0,  Saturday evening at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility to earn its seventh consecutive victory.

"The entire team came out ready to play today and I was proud of how they performed. We had strong, consistent play across the entire line up," said head coach Patricia Piorkowski McDonald after the match.

The seven-match win streak is the second longest in its Division I history. The 2005-06 squad that was reclassifying from Division II also won seven straight during that campaign but those wins were a mixture of Division and Division I competition. The longest win streak in NJIT Division I history is 14 wins during the 2011-12 season that saw the Highlanders repeat as Great West Conference Tournament champions.
