UNIVERSITY PARK, PA–No. 9 Penn State swept visiting NJIT, 3-0, in EIVA Conference men's volleyball action inside Rec Hall South Gym on Saturday afternoon.
Penn State won its fifth match in a row, improving to 12-3 overall, 4-0 in the EIVA and 8-0 at home while the Highlanders moved to just below .500, 7-8 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
The Nittany Lions won in straight sets 25-21, 25-20 and 25-13 paced by John Kerr's match-best 13 kills followed by Michal Kowal with 12 kills. Kerr combined for a .524 hitting percentage while Kowal posted a .579 hitting percentage in victory.
NJIT was led by junior Alessandro Negri's team-best 10 kills while Antonio Feliciano combined for seven kills. Graduate student Carson Williams combined for six kills on 11 attempts with just one error for a .455 hitting percentage for the Highlanders.
Senior setter Griffin Fieseler piled up a team-best 21 kills to go along with three digs.
NJIT will return to action on Friday, March 1 when the Highlanders host FDU at 6pm inside the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center.
