NEWARK - The NJIT men's tennis team bounced back from Friday's 4-3 loss to Drexel with a convincing 7-0 sweep of visiting LIU on Sunday afternoon at the Naimoli Family Tennis and Recreation Facility.

The Highlanders are now 7-1 on the season, while LIU dropped to 5-3.

NJIT got on the scoreboard first as it swept all three doubles matches to go ahead 1-0. The Highlanders won 6-2 at both first and second doubles before taking the third doubles pairing with a 6-4 victory.

The Highlanders kept the momentum rolling into singles play as Pablo Perez Ramos and Wil Jenkins won in dominating fashion at first singles (6-1, 6-1) and second singles (6-1, 6-0), respectively. 

NJIT also won in straight sets at the third, fourth, and fifth positions, while needed three sets to complete the sweep at sixth singles.

The team will get a bit of rest before its next match when the Highlanders welcome Bryant to Newark next Sunday. First serve is slated for 11am back at the Naimoli Family Tennis and Recreation Center.
